Enjoying the Journey

Sometimes when people buy a new car, they think more about gas mileage and resale value than they do about their own experience. Unfortunately, if you overlook your own personal enjoyment, you might end up driving a car that you hate for a lot longer than you want to. I have bought and sold several cars over my lifetime, and I can tell you that I have the most fun with a car when I really stop to think about what I am looking for. My website is designed to help you to decide what type of car will work for you—so that you can enjoy the journey.

4 Moving Mistakes That You Must Avoid

If you are planning on moving households, you will obviously find that hiring a moving service is a great way to save yourself a great deal of time and stress. However, you shouldn't just rely on the moving company to take care of everything for you. If you do, you can fall into these very common moving mistakes, which can make your move almost as stressful as moving without help. Here are the four common moving mistakes to avoid:

  1. Moving at the Wrong Time: If you can avoid it, you should plan your move during the right time of the year. Moving during the summer, weekends, holidays, and the beginning and end of the month are all the busiest times to do it. Moving around these times will cost you more on moving services and since moving companies tend to be busier during these times of year, you may also have to choose a moving company that wasn't your first choice since your first choice may not be available to you the day that you need them.
  2. Not Getting a Visual Estimate: When you are receiving estimates from a moving company, many people will rely on the estimate that is given over the phone. However, to ensure a more accurate quote, you should have the company provide a visual estimate. When the moving company visits your home, you will be able to provide more details about your move and the movers can determine how time consuming your move will actually be based on the amount of stuff you have and the amount of larger furniture that will need to get through the door.
  3. Not Adding Moving Insurance: Although you may not actually need to use the moving insurance, since moving companies are trained to be sure that nothing is damaged during the moving process, you really never know. Paying the extra for moving insurance may be well worth it. For example, if something of high value is damaged during the moving process, the insurance will cover it, which is often much more affordable than having to replace it on your own.
  4. Not Packing Properly: Packing the moving boxes is not up to the moving company. Ensuring that you do this right will guarantee that there is less of a chance that things will break and become disorganized. You should purchase strong moving boxes that will hold the heaviest of items and consider packing by room to ensure that boxes can be set in the proper location when they arrive. This makes it easier for the movers, as well, since they won't have to continuously ask where certain boxes should be placed.

By avoiding these common moving mistakes, you can be sure that you get the most out of your moving experience with the professional movers that you hire. Contact a local mover, such as RB Logistics, if you have questions.
